There are two announcements I always feel awkward about. They're important enough that you feel obligated to make them but there is no way to finesse the conversation towards the topic. Those two announcements are 1. being pregnant and 2. moving. Especially if there is no anticipating either event. In better news, I'm not pregnant. (I cannot handle another surprise on that front). In worse news, we're moving. Seriously. In less than a week we decided we were moving two weeks from then. A week from Sunday, to be precise. I have so many mixed emotions. I absolutely do not want to leave where we live now. It is my ideal location in every way except cost. To offset this disappointment, I started making a list of things I will be happy for in Texas. It looks like this:
1. Family (this really occupies several bullet points, but I'll spare you. One of those includes my sisters and home videos that have yet to be made. Even though I'm 26, I can still party.)
1b. QT!!!!!!!!!
2. One-Stop grocery shopping
3. A Wal-Mart that is open 24 hours and actually lower prices (even though I rarely went before I came here, I feel my joy at these two things may lead me to frequenting Wal-Mart post-move)
4. Super Target. 5 minutes from anywhere
5. Hot Tubs
6. Hot Summers
7. Humidity=curlier hair (not really a plus because when I say curly, I mean frizzy) and clearer skin (my skin loves Texas)
I don't even want to get in to things I will miss about living here. The list is far too long and I am trying to avoid tears. I think if I can get through the move without tears, they may never come.
So, that's my list. and this blogpost is my answer to the awkward announcement. If you can think of another awkward announcement or more positives to my Texas moves, feel free to share. If you can only think of things I will miss, keep those to yourself--my list is far too long as it is.
Now, on to packing. I haven't packed a thing and we move in T-minus 10 days. Ugh.

Day #8
Well, today was the eighth day. It was rough. Mainly because finding a doctor is proving to be a HUGE pain. DON'T EVER MOVE AND CHANGE INSURANCE IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR PREGNANCY! I might have cried in my bed for 30 minutes out of sheer frustration. It also doesn't help when you have no friends and the lady at the doctor's office keeps asking you if "you're sure you don't know anyone with a fax machine we could fax this form to instead?" All I wanted to shout was "I'm sure I don't know ANYONE, with or with out a fax machine. Please stop rubbing it in!"
Fortunately for me, the piano tuner came shortly thereafter and she was a GEM. Seriously brightened up my entire day. Then I received a few emails from the library informing me that a few of my other Young-Adult Novels were available for pick-up. (Yes, I put books on hold at the library so you can't get them first.)
Did I do anything else today? Well, I didn't finish Gone With the Wind for book club tomorrow night.... I've read it once before and the second time is really not as enjoyable. Now that I know what happens, this book is stinking LOOONG. And I didn't cook dinner--I was distracted by my piano sounding so nice. Also, I didn't do my laundry, or work out a schedule, or unload the dishwasher, or finish setting up my recording stuff. At least I have a lot of things to do tomorrow, huh?

Recap: Day #1
Well, Day one was not quite as productive as I would have liked. I did, however, complete all things on my to-do list. Except find a baby doctor...well, I found one, but I didn't make an appointment, so I'm slacking.
First I went to pre-natal yoga. Thanks to a glitch on the website, I arrived 55 minutes early believing I was 5 minutes late. Needless to say, I had some time to kill. SOOOO, I read. It wasn't a complete bust. Pre-natal yoga, however, was a different story. Maybe I should have read the signs in their name: BlossomBirth, but I was sorely disappointed to go to yoga anticipating a sweaty workout that was also safe for baby and find it was a bunch of lonely pregnant women holding hands and shedding tears over baby. Okay, maybe it wasn't quite that bad, but after doing yoga in Costa Rica with my sister-in-law who is a hardcore instructor, I was more than a little let-down. Will I be returning? NO THANKS.
At least the next few hours had much more to offer. I got ready, rearranged a few loose papers, and then headed off to the library! I got a library card without even showing my proof of address (apparently the people at the desk don't like to wait for you to pull up a bank statement on your phone), and checked out 8 books:
All but one two (almost forgot The Secret Garden!) of these books were found in the "Teen" section, which should attest to their credibility as real literature.
Then I did some other things (so important I've forgotten them) and went to Williams-Sonoma to purchase a wok. If this Williams-Sonoma had been like other Williams-Sonomas I have entered, I would have been in and out in 20 minutes flat. This Williams-Sonoma, however, was a DREAM COME TRUE. There were demonstration counters all over the place, everything you could find online and never in stores, and it was beautiful. I got lost for at least 45 minutes before remembering that I had come for a purpose. I accosted a sales associate who happened to be an older man into helping me get a wok, and he knew so much about cooking and cookware I was enthralled. Needless to say, I will be returning to that Williams-Sonoma many times over--even if it is just to wander and wish... I did end up buying this beauty:
Then I made a mediocre stir-fry for boyf before I went to pick him up from the train. He kept telling me how good it was and even though I knew it wasn't awful, it was quite bland. I kept pestering him until he admitted that it was fairly bland, he just liked my cooking and didn't want to deter me from doing so. I felt much better after that--it gave me confidence that he would tell me the truth and perhaps liked all of those other things I tried previously.
Out of the ordinary: I felt pressure to be a "good wife". I don't even know what being one means, but I felt like the fact that I didn't fold up the clean laundry because I didn't feel like it would have boyf come home wondering what I had accomplished all day. I'll keep you posted on whether or not the pressure subsides.
